Inflation statistics have been published for both Guernsey and Jersey.

RPI, or Retail Price Index statistics, indicate the rise in the cost of goods over a set period.

Jersey saw inflation outstrip wage rises for the second consecutive year, meaning that real-terms wages also fell.

RPI in Guernsey rose by 2% in the year to September 2019, 0.8% points lower than in September 2018.

The most recent median wage figures, published March 31 2019, saw the average earnings increase by 1.7% in real terms.

The cost of housing was up by 2.2%, while the rise in food costs was significantly lower at 0.4%
