A youth choir from Jersey is heading to Italy to take part in an international event.
The Musical Original Singers will travel to the Rimini International Choral Competition.
The winner of the competition will be invited to the 2020 World Choral Championship.
The choir consists of girls and boys aged 9-18 from across the island.
The last time the choir competed in the Rimini International Choral Competition, they brought home two Gold Diplomas and finished second overall.
Imogen Nicholls MBE, who founded the choir, has her sights set on even more this time around.
We were competing against massive countries and we are a tiny choir from Jersey, but we’re going there to do even better this time.
I’m incredibly proud of them, I don’t think there’s a group of children anywhere who would work as hard as these children have done. They may only be young people, but they’re fine young musicians.
– Imogen Nicholls MBE, founder of The Musical Original Singers
The choir will be holding a fundraising concert in preparation for the competition at 6.30pm on Thursday 12 September at the St. Helier Town Hall.
