A 45-year-old man has been convicted after police found an arsenal of weapons including a crossbow and axes in his car.
Gavin Price, of Sandown, on the Isle of Wight, was found guilty at Newport Crown Court of 17 charges, including possession of an imitation firearm, bladed articles and other offensive weapons.
They items were only discovered when officers stopped him for driving without an MOT.
Price was “noticeably obstructive” when he was pulled over, a Hampshire Police spokesperson said, but the officers “found out why when they searched the vehicle”.
He was found to be carrying a lock knife tucked into his belt, and keeping a crossbow and bolts in the boot of his car.
As the search went on, officers uncovered hunting knives, axes and a BB gun.
Price was remanded in custody to be sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court on 27 September.
