Climate change protesters are campaigning outside the States Assembly building in Guernsey.

They want politicians to declare a “climate crisis” and create a climate action plan by the start of next year.

Under plans put forward the Committee for the Environment and Infrastructure, the States will develop a climate change policy and ‘Climate Change Action Plan’ by May 2020.

Deputy Lindsay De Sausmarez wants the States to go further and agree that climate change has reached a critical point and that Guernsey must urgently address the climate and ecological crisis.

We want to see strong action with ambitious targets set, and a clear declaration that this is an emergency so nobody is left in any doubt about the severity of the situation.

– Extinction Rebellion Guernsey

Over 20 people are protesting for climate change action outside the States Assembly.
