Retired islanders in Jersey who want to keep working have the chance to join the team at the Jersey War Tunnels.
The cafe area has been refurbished to provide an authentic 1940s tearoom, which will now be known as the Vega Cafe.
Staff are looking to recruit a team of islanders of retirement age who will be given training and called in to work a couple of days a week.
Age UK figures report that 1.9 million older people often feel ignored or invisible. The opportunity aims to provide islanders with a new skill set and the chance to meet people.
The cafe has already recruited 81-year-old Jean Mclaughlin, who has taken on 100 challenges for charity recently, and staff are hopeful more islanders will be ready to join the team.
The historical tearoom will begin welcoming visitors from Friday 1st March.

We believe that age should be viewed as a gift and not a burden, so it’s great to see businesses like Jersey War Tunnels acknowledging this and making use of the invaluable skills, life experiences and perspectives that our Islanders have.
